Dr. Joe Nalbone, chiropractic physician
People often ask me why I chose to become a chiropractor. My typical response to this question is that I enjoy fixing things, more specifically, fixing people. As a kid, I was always working on one thing or another. If something was broken, I was the one who was gladly volunteering to fix it. If it had moving parts, I worked on it and fixed it. After working on most man-made mechanical things, I realized that fixing the greatest biomechanical structure (aka human beings) was something I wanted to do for a living. The journey to get to where I am today is quite a story. The following is just a preview of my journey.

"I like to think of myself as a mechanic of the human body. I fix broken things and tune up your health."
     - Dr. Joe Nalbone

I had my formal undergraduate college education at Syracuse University in my home state of New York where I earned a Bachelor of Science in biology. While there, I studied biology, chemistry, physics, and computer programming. For fun, I minored in archaeology in an attempt to fill empty spots in my schedule with this interesting subject. As I progressed through college, I debated between pursuing goals in health care, conservation biology, or historical/sub-Saharan archaeology. Allopathic medicine seemed unfit for my personality, biology seemed too secluded and distant, and archaeology seemed like I'd get lost in some ancient ruins never to be seen again.
Taking a plunge, I chose none of the above and went back to a former career in computer programming. With long hours of sitting at a cubicle with very few breaks, my back began to cause me problems. My beautiful wife was already an established patient at a local chiropractic center so I decided to give it a try. With great results I soon developed a fascination with healing the body with a hands-on approach without the use of medication. The more I thought about it, the more I realized that being a chiropractor would be a great profession. Thus, my passion of fixing broken things began again.
Shortly thereafter I applied and was accepted into Western States Chiropractic College, the most prestigious chiropractic college in the country, equivalent to its counter-parts like Harvard or Johns Hopkins in the medical community. While there I learned how to harness my healing capabilities and utilize excellent diagnostic skills.
I am so lucky to have chosen chiropractic as a profession. Since graduating from chiropractic college, I love the work that I do. It's awesome to watch people transform from unhealthy, disease-ridden individuals, to healthy and active individuals. Together, my patient's and I make an unstoppable team in achieving practically any health care goal.

Stefani Kaufman-Nalbone, the clinic director
I started working in the chiropractic field with my mother who is a chiropractic physician and naturopath. As a teen and young adult I worked in her Pasadena California office first as a chiropractic assistant and then as her office manager. Since that time I have worked for a variety of chiropractors and have learned numerous skills, the ins and the outs of dealing with the insurance companies, and have attended many different business and chiropractic seminars.
However, after working for chiropractors for many years, I decided to go back to school and in 2003 graduated with honors from Portland State University. Always curious about human behavior, it seemed natural for me to pursue a degree in psychology. It was at PSU that I first learned about the intricate nature of the human brain, thus sparking my interest in neuropsychology and brain chemistry. It was also at that time that I learned quite a bit about the olfactory system and the effects that smells have on our mood and health. Recently, I have been taking classes in aromatherapy and herbology and plan to complete my studies soon. I would like to incorporate my natural healing skills in psychology, aromatherapy, and herbology in our chiropractic center.
My goal at Doctor Joe's Chiropractic Center is to apply the skills that I've learned when assisting you in our office. I am committed to making your visit be as stress-free as possible by keeping your visit time down, keeping paperwork to a minimum, and making your entire experience as enjoyable as possible. If you ever have a question or concern about any procedure in this office, feel free to call me at (208) 522-1026. I will do whatever I can to assist you.
